Tenor William Lewis has always been involved in educating the upcoming singers and began taught at Penn State University, State University of New York, Binghampton, and is now Professor at the University of Texas, Austin.


He is the President of the William Lewis School of Opera, which includes the Austrian American Mozart Academy, and the Franco-American Vocal Academy.

A great proponent of the French repertoire, William Lewis created the Grand Concours Vocal Competition, an international vocal competition dedicated to the French Art Song and Opera repertoire. The next edition will take place on February 17, 2018, in Austin, Texas

The William Lewis Award was created to honor the great tenor, and is aimed at rewarding the most promising operatic talent of the Classical Singer Competition. The Award recipient will be selected by William Lewis himself during the Classical Singer Convention 2018
